We have been retailing fresh garlic for a few weeks now. Some customers take it for young leeks, as they do look very similar. (The not so young leeks, but very tender and small, from last year planting, are also on offer, coincidentally).
The weather in this country is not perfect for garlic, it rarely manages to ripe fully. So, it is safer to sell it now, treating you to yet another green vegetable, than hoping to get it ripe and dry in the autumn.
The fresh garlic comes in bundles, very tender and fragrant and we slice it in salads, use in stirfries, stews and stuffing.
Enjoy it while it lasts!
