Welcome to the self-guided farm tour.
This is a tour of our two fields – Upper Knights and Lower Bec. By clicking on every Information number, right, you can read the contents of the printed information boards displayed in the field, as well as additional details.
The price of the tour is £5.00 per person. Cash and card payments are accepted at our Farm Shop Lin’s VegShed self-service till. Look for ‘self-guided tour’ on the screen. Children come free.
Use the printed handout to walk through both fields and learn about our way of looking after the land.
When you reach an information board, use your phone to access the QR codes to additional details. If you do not have a phone, do not worry, because we put the most important information on the printed boards.
A full tour of both fields will take about 1.5 hours and it has a total length of 1.2 miles.
The two fields are divided up into seven rotational blocks each being almost a hectare each, these blocks move on every year.
These two fields amount to 7 ha (18 acres) and form a part of our growing operations. As well as these fields, we also have a 1 ha (2.4 acres) Walled Garden, where we grow all the plants for the Gardens and the fields, around 70,000. Within the Walled Garden we also grow 8,000 strawberry plants and a wide range of vegetables and fruits in our 2,000 metres of polytunnels, alongside a range of crops outside. The Walled Garden serves the field and is the hub of our operations with the packing of our produce. The fields and the Gardens are inter-dependant on each other. The Gardens also serve as a regular venue for a range of events from food festivals, retreats, workshops and seminars. The Gardens is not part of this tour, but if you are interested, we can sometimes book you into one of our scheduled events that includes the Gardens.
This tour is open on weekends, Bank Holidays and in summertime after 5pm. This is a working farm and we appreciate you not disturbing our staff during work hours 8am-5pm. Perhaps you want to know more about oru team of staff? There are a lot of people who live at Hardwick and are involved directly in our farm’s operations
We hope you enjoy your tour. Please send us any feedback HERE
