A VegShed to remember
Lin’s Veg Shed was created as a way to provide the locals with fresh, organic, delicious vegetables, all year round. It began as a very modest structure and has grown throughout its time into a wonderful spot, where customers can browse the shop with fantastic views of the farm fields. Being an unmanned, “honesty box” shop, we put our trust in our customers and give them complete freedom to serve themselves, whenever they please.
We have recently began a small Saturday cafe with great organic coffee and cakes, run by Zoe Quiney and David Price, who also works on the farm. This was a great way to provide a space that would encourage people to meet, socialise, and enjoy a lovely atmosphere at the hub of the Hardwick Estate, to which anyone is welcome to enjoy.
Says Dave “My favorite thing at the VegShed is talking to people and educating them about how the produce is grown on the farm, whilst they choose their vegetables. I get great satisfaction knowing I have taught people about how sustainable their food can be and getting direct feedback about how enjoyable their experience is.”
In 2023 we hosted four Hardwick Markets at the VegShed, where local craft people and producers, those who live at Hardwick Estate and beyond come together to offer their wares. It is yet another way to support the local economy and meet new customers in a friendly and authentic atmosphere. We hope to continue the seasonal markets in 2024.
