This is our 7th Squash and Pumpkin Festival in a row and although the challenges grow by the year, we would upset a lot of people if we were to cancel the event. So, this year, despite the gloomy weather forecast, we are going ahead, hoping for some dry spells and resilient customers. We may have to move the car park to another field, a tad further away, to avoid cars stuck in the field or skidding on grass.
But if you make it there, you should not be disappointed. We have the largest selection and quantity of squashes this year, both edible and decorative and we have displayed over 700 pumpkins for sale, at Lin’s VegShed.
We are promoting pumpkins for eating rather than just carving, and to this, we are launching a brand new Pumpkin Curry station at the festival, with savoury dahl, coconut pumpkin and veg curry, squash and basmati rice biryani, mixed veg pakoras, popadums, onion salad and pickle.
We will also be offering our wood fired pizzas, sweetcorn, home-made cakes and a selection of home-made vegan ice cream. Not to be missed!
