Chances are that you’ve heard a lot lately about the EU’s new data privacy law, the GDPR. We get at least two emails every day from our suppliers about how they are getting ready for this new law. And so, we have had to review our own policy on data collection and this post should make it clear for our news readers as to how we intend to apply it. And yes, to such a minute business like ours GDPR feel like a big elephant in a small room. But actually, we believe this is going to be a good thing for us all and here is why:
1. The law will help create a more trusting relationship between us and our contacts. Knowing exactly what kind of experience contacts want from us helps meet—and exceed—their expectations.
2. The GDPR empowers you to understand exactly what data is being collected and how it will be used.
3. And since the GDPR provides you with the right to easily specify and update permissions (by, allowing you to quickly opt into or out of receiving our e-Newsletter), it should also lead to fewer unsubscribes. Mind you, we have never had an Unsubscribe yet, and this is because all our e-Newsletter readers have had to sign-in themselves, we cannot do this for you.
As the e-Newsletter goes, we have enabled GPDR fields for this, and it’s double opt-in, so that’s good. We only hold your email addresses in the MailChimp account, however we NEVER extract them from there to do mass emails. In fact, we never do mass emails on any topic.
Nevertheless, this is just to reiterate that any time you can Unsibscribe from our e-Newsletter and we shall not ask you why, will not ask for feedback, unless you volunteer to send us a message about it.
