Shoppers Fork Out More For Organic Goods

Shoppers are spending £1.73m more per week on organic goods as they opt for chemical-free, ethically produced products rather than the biggest bargain.

The money spent on such items increased by 4.9% last year, almost reaching the same level as 2008 before the recession hit and sales slumped.

Louise Unwin, who has been farming organically for 25 years at Longwood Farm in Suffolk, is not surprised at the resurgence.
