Box Scheme

Are organic veg boxes worth the money?

All the major supermarkets offer an organic range but with most the choice is limited, supply irregular and prices significantly higher than non-organic products. Organic veg box schemes, on the other hand, have sprung up all over the UK and offer households an alternative. On the downside, you don’t know quite what you’ll get each week and you might end up with veg you’ve never heard of (let alone know how to cook). But pound for pound, how do the veg boxes score? Veg-box schemes do cost more than the standard, non-organic produce in your local supermarket, but the flavours are better and there is value in knowing the food you are putting into your body has been exposed to as few chemicals as possible. Soil Association licensees Able & Cole, Riverford and Ocado are featured.
